Visit Balazuc

Balazuc, one of the most beautiful villages in France

This medieval town lives up to its reputation. Built on limestone cliffs, Balazuc is distinguished by its vaulted passages, the nave of its bell tower, its charming squares lined with fig trees, its feudal castle and its square keep. Climb to the top of the Romanesque church to discover a breathtaking panorama with the sound of crickets in the background.

Stroll through the narrow streets of Balazuc

A word of advice: don’t hesitate to get lost in the winding streets of Balazuc, you will certainly come across craftsmen exhibiting their wares: pottery, jewellery, local products, etc. This is an opportunity to explore all the facets of what is one of the most beautiful villages in France: craft shops nestled in old stone houses, vaulted passageways and small intimate quarters, squares shaded by fig trees, steep streets and calades, etc. For a complete immersion, you can even stay on site in a camping Balazuc or a lodging Balazuc, and even in the feudal castle converted into a guest house overlooking the river Ardèche. And don’t miss the Ardèche Museum, which displays a collection of fossils from the region for a stunning retrospective on the history of our planet, long before the arrival of man.

In summer, many events are organised: archaeological excavation, bread and wine festival, etc. Don’t miss the storytelling walk in the village! For more information, go to the town hall of Balazuc.
